Poetry in Fall

Fall in New England. That's such a magical time. Crisp air, hazy blue skies, the soft crinkle of the leaves as you wander down country lanes and through the woods...and , of course, the Fall colours!  Magnificent. And amazingly recreated for the Spoonful of Sugar Fall Event. Wow!

This charity Event is in support of Medecins Sans Frontieres - Doctors Without Borders.  The first day total of donations was  a whopping 681,970L...that's fantastic! Thank you all...but that's just the first day.

How can you help?  You can donate directly or, if you are like me, just go shopping!  If there is nothing you like here I'd be shocked! Every vendor has an item that gives 100% to the charity plus others that have 50% etc.

One of the first items that caught my eye...and there were many...was this outfit by Ever an' Angel. It is called Poetry and consists of a sweater and maxi skirt. This is the Cedar - exclusive for the Event. It's also available in Shitaki, Pebble, Kelp and Dusk. Cost is 300L

The sweater comes in Standard Mesh 5 sizes. The skirt fits Maitreya, Physique, Hourglass, Venus, Isis & Freya.

The SOS Event features a Gacha Orchard (who doesn't love them...gambling and winner every time!), FOUR shopping SIM locations  SIM1, SIM2, SIM3, SIM4 (see list of vendors below), an Auction arena, Festival area, Entertainment area (party time never ends!) and a Raffle area there is something to keep everyone amused. Check out the great prizes!

Art for Arts Sake..."l'art pour l'art"

There is something peaceful and serene about wandering around an art gallery and looking at the works of great Masters. Trouble is...they are spread all over the world. What if you could have them all in one place for a little bit...and look on them at your leisure. Alone in the gallery...no crowds.

Well, that's not likely to happen is it. So the next best thing is to grab this set of Masters, masterfully created by the Ghee designers, to exhibit your own living wearable art. Don a Monet or a DaVinci and show off your cultural side to your friends...and look fashionable while you do it!

There are 10 great artists available in this set; exclusive to 68 Main Event. Here are a few to get your taste buds tingling...and yes, my favourite is the Matisse...but I love cats as much as I love colour...but to quote E.A Bucchianeri;  “Art is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone will have their own interpretation.”

A little about the artists for the items worn...if your interested.

Daybreak

Maxfield Parrish: Born 25July 1870  and died 30 March 1966 aged 95 was an American painter and illustrator active in the first half of the 20th century. He is known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealized neo-classical imagery. He achieved his unique style by the use of glazing. The colour Parrish Blue is named after him. His most famous work is Daybreak, produced in 1923, featuring female figures in a landscape scene.

Le chat aux poissons rouges  (The Cat with Red Fish)

Henri-Émile-Benoît Matisse: A French artist born 31 December 1869 and died 3 November 1954 aged 84, was an artist, known for both his use of colour and his fluid and original draughtsmanship. He was a good friend of Picasso and known for his colourful art and sculptures. He had a love of cats but rarely used them in his paintings.

Japanese Bridge

Oscar-Claude Monet: Born14 November 1840  and died 5 December 1926, aged 86, was a founder of French Impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, and landscape painting. The term "Impressionism" is derived from the title of his painting Impression, soleil levant (impression, sunrise) which was exhibited in 1874 in the first of the independent exhibitions mounted by Monet and his associates.

There are other artists available in this series:
Dali - Departure of the Winged Ship (which is actually by Kush - 2000)
DaVinci - Lady with an Ermine - 1490
DeKooning - Seated Woman - 1940
Hooper - Nighthawks - 1942
Klimt - Medici & Hygeia - 1901
Munch - The Scream - 1893
Van Gogh - Roses - 1890

Spoonful of Sugar Event - FALL 2017

Well it's almost Fall...and almost time to put on that sweater for some. I'm having a bit of an Indian Summer at the moment. It forgot to be summer with all the rain! At least the apples will grow and that means something special.

An Apple a day keeps the Doctor away (but your dentist will love you!)

Now, I mentioned rain...and some folk have been hit very hard just lately and resources are thin on the ground. At times like these certain organizations step up to help. One of them is Doctors Without Borders.

Without help, some people would not survive. Without drugs, medicine, even a medical check. Never mind life saving vaccinations and simple remedies that you and I take for granted.

The Spoonful of Sugar Festival is an Event that draws on special people that organize, plan, set-up and administer. They have the support of the designers and creators of Second Life with fashion, home & garden items and even breedables.

So with a Gacha Orchard (who doesn't love them...gambling and winner every time!), FOUR shopping SIM locations, an Auction arena, Festival area, Entertainment area (party time never ends!) and a Raffle area there is something to keep everyone amused.

I'll be taking a look at the Fashion and the Home items and showing off some. Check back in!  Starts this Saturday...

Please come and visit this awesome event and donate as much as you can for an awesome cause...make your Second Life special by helping someone in Real Life. By purchasing the items on offer you are supporting Doctors Without Borders and millions of people worldwide.

In the twinkling lights of dusk

Summer days move slowly into nights and dusk brings on it's own special beauty. Pleasant warm breezes. The sounds of insects humming in the evening air. Romantically, the twinkling of the lights bring on a magical feeling as the sun sets and the deep colours of the oncoming night paint the sky. I love that transition time...

Imagine it being a special night...an occasion for you to put on something pretty but comfortable.

I slipped into this delectable red strapless dress by [LIZ]. The Tuccia mini dress has beautiful brocade work on the front over a flower motif throughout and a contrasting splatter pattern to the hem. Perfect for those sultry summer nights.

It is available in Slink, Belleza and Maitreya. There are 3 other versions of the dress: a white flower pattern on a black front over blue, a sky blue dress with zipped bodice and a cream dress with a belted rose motif.

A great dress always needs great shoes. These are Tabitha by Lindy, who always design lovely shoes for all foot shapes. This are for high feet. Cute open-toed heels with a high ankle support and a buckle decoration. Available in White, Red, Chocolate, Black-Gold and Beige for Maitreya and Slink.

Designer Showcase offers designs and exclusives from talented designers and fashion boutiques for the discerning shopper. The Event runs each month from the 5th - 30th. Come and see fashion that suits all your needs under one roof.
